So we went to visit the florist a couple Thursdays ago...
Eric was a trooper and went with me since no one else could. Everyone wanted to...but with it being a weekday...it made it difficult.
I really really wanted my flower to be the peony... in a pale pink!
Sadly...the florist said the peonies would not be in season during September.
Now I was lost...I hadn't looked at any other flower. The florist mentioned a few different kinds of roses. Of course they weren't the peony but they would do :-)

I tweeted this and Kim at Pink, Pearls and Polka Dots was the sweetest and gave me a few names of roses as well that look similar to the peony!
Here is my new inspiration...

i think pink roses will be beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWow...they do look A LOT like peonies! I think they will be perfect & so pretty for your wedding!!
ReplyDeleteThose pink roses are beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was planning my wedding, flowers were on the very bottom of the budget list. I knew they were necessary, but not something I wanted to spend a lot on. I ended up ordering all of my white roses & made all of the bouquets & centerpieces myself. While it wasn't fun dethorning all of those badboys the day of my rehearsal, I did save a TON of money.
I think the pink roses are beautiful, and if I didn't know any better, I'd say they look almost exactly like the peony! I'm sure they smell as sweet and will look perfect in your bouquet!
ReplyDeleteI think those roses will be just perfect! They look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to be able to help!! And with the right kind of rose you can get the perfect peony look without having a peony!!! Thanks for the mention! Can't wait to see pictures of your actual bouquet from your wedding in Sept!!
ReplyDeleteI Love the roses, they are just as pretty!
ReplyDeletejust nominated you for a blog award, and I'm super excited about it. Check it out:

i think they would look just as good! DO IT lol
ReplyDeleteI am having all roses at my wedding so I think the pale pink ones will be just perfect :)
ReplyDeleteOMG I knew we were similar. Ok I had the SAME dilemma!! I got married last September and I wanted pale pink peonies too. They are so beautiful, feminine and just plain elegant. It's such a bummer they aren't a year round flower...uggg. Check out lisianthus, dahlia and garden roses. You can get them all in pale pink or white. The issue my florist had was making sure the pink was pale pink. Some were a little darker than I wanted. My florist was not great and I actually HATED my bouquet!!! It was way too pink and thank goodness there was extra white hydranges (which by the way was a flower I didn't even want) but I was able to tone down the pink. No one noticed, but I was so not happy. It's annoying when you're very specific and don't get what you want. The bridesmaids bouquets turned out better than mine. I also included baby's breath. Sorry for my rant. Ha. But I totally know the feeling of wanting the peony and it not being in season. Check out those three flowers. They can have a similar look. If you'd like to see pics I'm happy to email them.

Love both types of flowers and the pale pink color you have chosen. They are simple, beautiful and definately a classic for a wedding that won't "go out of style". I think you would be happy with the roses, since you cannot have your first choice...
ReplyDeleteomg amanda, those roses are GORGEOUS!!! such a beautiful collage you put together! and yay thats me! hehe!

I am a die hard peony fan, but those roses are absolutely beautiful! I think they are a perfect choice
ReplyDeleteI too got married in September & had wanted peonies. They were the only flower I knew I liked. Those look like a gorgeous alternative.
ReplyDeleteWhile yes, peonies are so so lovely especially in pale pink, the roses still look just as precious and romantic! It's such a close call, but either one is gorgeous! xo
ReplyDeleteOh. My. Gosh. I loooove peonies! They are my favorite flower of all time! :) Buuuuut the pale pink roses are a beautiful alternative! Dang September and their flower seasons! It is going to be beautiful!!! :) I am really excited for you.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful! My sister got married in September, and her flowers were gorgeous; I know your florist will turn out something great!
ReplyDeleteThese flowers are gorgeous! I am usually not a "rose" type person, but these pictures are amazing... I def say "use them"!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fabulous weekend!
LOVE! They will be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI think the roses are beautiful! Maybe even more feminine and pretty than the peony!
ReplyDeleteI think those pink roses are a pretty good match! Have you seen raunaculus? I'm not sure if they're in season in September, but they always kinda reminded me of peonies. We had peonies at our wedding. I love them. Such a beautiful texture.
ReplyDeletepale pink roses will look GORGEOUS! I got married in February so I didn't have tons of flower choices...I don't see why they can't have all flowers YEAR ROUND! hahaha
ReplyDeletelove your blog!
