Living Healthy - HOW TO create a Schedule

Creating a schedule that works for YOUR family…

One of the most asked questions from you guys is… How do you do find time to workout?

Well let me tell you!

First of all…when Reaghan was born…it took EIGHT months for us to come up with a schedule. EIGHT MONTHS!

The first month after Rea….I don’t think we were eating super-duper healthy. We were in a daze and sleep deprived (I don’t remember a darn thing from those days)! I might have been in a daze that second month as well!

By month 3, I was cooking one of three things… grilling chicken, making healthy quesadillas or healthy sweet potato nachos. Pretty sure this was the menu for two months (poor Eric).

Mind you…I did not work out during these 4 months AT ALL!

When Rea was 5 months…I returned to work. We were back to eating grilled chicken every day that Eric grilled in bulk on Sunday and Wednesday nights. NEVER AGAIN can I eat plain grilled chicken (I know I’ve mentioned this before but I’m totally serious).  Check out these yummy recipes to add some flavor to your nights… Sweet Potato Shepard’s Pie and White Bean Turkey Chili

Month 6 & 7 we made it back to eating quesadillas and sweet potato nachos (Eric’s probably giving me the stink eye every night!)!

I STILL wasn’t working out.

Month EIGHT…I was pretty much disgusted with myself. I had zero energy and my pre pregnancy clothes were NOT fitting. I would see photos or stories of new moms that were fitting into their old clothes within 3 months (oh aren’t you so lucky).

Luckily this is when I found Advocare as well and it gave me the energy I needed. I hadn’t worked out for eight months (nor did I have the motivation). Well…really a year and a half because I might have worked out ONCE while I was pregnant.

So Eric and I talked a lot about how I could get back in the gym. I tried working out after work but I felt super rushed and Rea went to bed early…I’m talking 6 (I think) so that didn’t work for us. I knew there was a gym within a mile of my office so the only logical plan that we came up with was me working out during lunch. This allowed both Eric and I to workout every day!

YES! We finally found a routine (halleluiah)! This worked amazingly…and the lunch hour workout was a great break to recharge for the second half of the day. Now…I’m even able to go to Crossfit AND cook something other than quesadillas!

So if I want you to take anything out of this story…
…find a routine that works for YOUR family. It may take a couple of tries. But it CAN be done.  DON’T give up. And ask for help.

Think about when you have some open time and see if you can fit working out during that time. Or bring the kiddos to the gym with you. There are also tons of workouts you can do in your living room (like while you’re watching the ID Channel).

There are soooooooo many moms (especially at crossfit) that fit working out and eating right into their lifestyles. BUT you are going to have to put in some kind of effort (don’t wish for it). If you haven’t already read my post about goals…go HERE now (well after you finish reading this post)!

I’ll talk to you all about meal prepping in another post. This one was more about finding time to working fitness into your family’s schedule.

I hope this helps some of you!
If you have any questions….please ask me! I’d love to help!

Lean Legs Workout!

image
It's been a rough couple of weeks y'all. Rea has been quite sick and results finally came back as being a UTI. Its times like this when I can't wait to be a work at home mom.
..................................................
Motivation.
It... Is... Hard... to get motivated...am I wrong?
We can definitely find motivation thru others that push us to the edge but ultimately it has to come from within to jump in and commit to change. To want to change.
I was personally stuck in a rut until about 8 months postpartum. I had expected the 40plus lbs I put on during pregnancy would just melt off. Boy was I wrong! I finally sucked it up. I mean...I could only complain to Eric so much...poor guy!
Want the truth....
Suck It Up.
Commit.
Only YOU can choose to make a change.
Don't just watch others become healthy. Become one of those that others look up to and watch your children look up to you! Others will see that you've committed and you just might push them to the edge to decide to make a change for themselves!
The results are worth it...I promise!

Booty Blaster - Tabata Style

Workin' on that booty ya'll! (and those hamstrings!)
Need to burn that booty off because of all those Thanksgiving desserts?

Then try this!!
I used 12 lb weights for these exercises.

20 seconds of work with 10 seconds of rest. 8 rounds of each tabata before moving to the next. Take a look HERE for the Tabata apps I use.

Just in case you aren't sure how to perform some of these...see below!

Also yesterday I started my Beat the Bulge Challenge. Click HERE to join with me and have a meal plan created just for you!

If you try...let me know what you think!

Fitness 101 - Push Ups to Tone Your Arms

I posted about these Push Up variations a long long time ago but wanted to do it again because I love it so much.

Complete all 3 variations doing 10 reps of each...resting 1 minute in between and then repeat for a total of 3-4 sets.

I'm doing a regular push up, the triangle push up and the pike push up.

Tank is obviously not impressed with this haha.
Let me know if you try it!!
Have a great day!

Fitness 101 - Thinner Thighs in 20 Minutes!

Don't have time to go to the gym?

Try the below Tabata Style workout!
I love doing my workouts using Tabata bc I am limited on time throughout the day, it gets my heart rate going and is helping me lean out.

FYI...I wanna die during the lunge jumps (yeah just take a look at the photo below)...if you can't do the complete 20 seconds of work...do it as long as you can and wait for the next 20 seconds of work to come around.

So for this workout...complete each exercise 8 times. you work for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds...then repeat until you've done it 8 times. Move on to the next exercise.

AND so you're not trying to stare at a clock the whole time...download a Tabata Timer app on your phone. My fav app is Seconds Pro Interval Timer because it plays your music and counts down. Another app is Gymboss but it doesn't play music. Both are free.

Just FYI...my legs were killing me the next 2 days!

The video below shows you everything except the reverse lunges. You can view how to do a reverse lunge HERE.

Let me know what you think...if you get a chance to try it!
Have a great day!

Fitness 101 - Flatter Abs After Baby

Many of you requested 'Body After Baby' posts.

After giving birth....I was an emotional wreck...I'll be the first to admit.
Happy. Crazy. Sad.  Which is totally normal.

I also kept thinking to myself...will I EVER get my pre-baby body back?

In just the 3.5 short months since Rea was born....I have seen a dramatic difference from the day I came home from the hospital.

When I started eating healthy again...is when I noticed the most change...check out how to meal prep HERE to make eating healthy so much easier! Or visit HERE to buy a meal plan designed just for you by ME.

You definitely won't see those abs unless you're eating healthy (or at least your correct macro count per iifym).

........................................................................

When I first looked at myself after Rea was born....I was concerned that my tummy would never be flat. I think I started exercising again  (on and off) at 4 weeks...nothing too intense tho.

First....you need to know if you have ab separation (Diastasis Recti)...if so...you will be limited until your abs 'grow' back together...but you can help them heal by doing squats against the wall and upright push ups. Also, if you had a C-section....you can start these as long as your incision has heeled and you feel no discomfort while doing the exercise....but of course double check with your doctor.

Here's how to check...

Below are some great ab movements that I love that need no equipment...to help with that baby pooch we all love...but do these whether you've just had a baby or not!

If you have any questions...let me know!
